a Community Outreach Ministry of
The food pantry is an outreach to the surrounding community to distribute food to those in need. Food is provided by Gleaners and Midwest Food Banks as well as contributions from Linwood members, Avon Christian, and Allisonville Christian Churches.
Every Wednesday morning the basement dining room is set up with tables full of food for distribution.
The only requirement for patrons is that they must show an ID which includes their current address. The address must be within the local community bounded by: E. 21st Street (north) - E. Washington St. (South) - N. Emerson Ave. (East) - and N. Rural St. (west).
A volunteer takes each patron on a shopping spree on the items that are available to take.
This has been a long time ministry of Linwood Christian, and serves many more than 100 patrons each week.
During the Pandemic “shopping” was suspended.
Food is currently delivered on a “Pass-Thru” basis.
We may return to the “shopper” model in the future.
